How to take clear photos for a hair consultation
A useful consultation photo should show what you want to discuss without disguising it. You do not need a professional camera. A phone, a simple background and a few carefully checked views are a practical starting point. Photos are optional when contacting ÉLAN, and you can begin with questions instead.
Choose a clear setting
Stand near a window with even light. Avoid a bright window directly behind you, deep shadows and glare. Clean the camera lens and use a plain background so the hair is easy to see. Turn off beauty filters. Do not use editing tools to fill gaps, change the hairline or make the hair look thicker.
Include several views
Take one picture from the front, one from above and one of the back of the head. Add a side view if it helps show your concern. Ask someone you trust to help with angles that are difficult to photograph yourself. Keep enough of the head in the frame to make the area understandable, rather than sending only an extreme close-up.
Check before sending
Open each image at its normal size. Is it sharp? Is the area visible? Have fingers or the phone covered it? Send a small set of useful pictures instead of many almost identical ones. If you use styling products or hair fibres, mention this so the person reviewing the images understands what they are seeing.
Keep the exchange private
Remove unrelated personal items from the background and avoid including other people. Use the consultation form or the clinic’s direct contact channel, not public comments. Read the consent information before uploading. If a file does not upload, check the allowed formats and size on the form rather than repeatedly submitting the same request.
A photo review is an initial conversation aid. It is not a confirmed diagnosis, graft count or guarantee of suitability. Ask the team what assessment would be needed before any treatment decision.
